Dear Sober Warriors,
Ever had one of those days, "where you don't want to wake up, everything is f*@&ed, everybody sucks?" I am not ashamed to say YES I SURE HAVE! The world still turns, the birds still chirp, and the sun still shines but I can be left stewing in a heaping pile of my own crappy feelings.
Here are 8 things we can do RIGHT NOW to shake the crap off and reset!
Get outside! Take a five minute walk and try to point out three beautiful things you can see, hear, and feel.
Engage in one activity you are passionate about. Some of my favorite activities include slo-pitch, water coloring, and reading Harry Potter.
Open the Big Book of AA and read a random passage.
Journal about your present thought, this will help empty your mind.
Call or text someone you love, even if it’s just saying “Hi, just wanted to tell you that I miss you”.
Find a quote online that relates to how you are feeling in this moment.
Write down three things you like about yourself on a post it note and put it on your bathroom mirror. Read these aloud every time you are in front of the mirror.
Talk to another sober person for 3 minutes. Ask how you can help make their day better.
If all else fails, get into bed, snuggle up with a comfy blanket and take a nap. When you wake up, shout out one thing you are grateful for and take a step forward.
We are here with you every step of the way! Just remember, sobriety is not linear, it's full of peaks and valleys.
